This year’s Gloucestershire Society’s annual church service and Feast was generously hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort at Badminton House on Sunday 17th May. The day included the Society’s traditional church service in the glorious Church of St. Michael and All Angels, Great Badminton and was followed by the Feast, which was attended by around 100 supporter, benefactors and Trustees.
Guests also enjoyed a performance of the Society’s historic song George Ridler’s Oven, sung by Jeremy Watkins.
Society President Nick Hornby said “We are enormously grateful to the Duke and Duchess for their generosity and continued support. Each year we aim to raise more, so that we can respond to increasing demand and we distribute almost everything we raise. The Badminton event has helped raise awareness of our work which makes a real difference to people facing difficulties.”
Founded 370 years ago, the Gloucestershire Society distributes small but essential grants to local individuals and families facing hardship. The charity works through a dedicated team of volunteers covering different areas of the county and responds quickly to urgent requests for support.
Demand for help continues to rise year on year, increasing the importance of fundraising efforts from trusts and donors through the President’s annual appeal.
The Gloucestershire Society aims to continue expanding its reach as demand for emergency support grows throughout the county.
